My mustang has 106,000 miles, and I'm doing the trans swap and when I took the trans off the engine shakes a lot of it move it with your hand. Is that normal? Also if I don't keep the back end of the tranny jacked up (with the crossmember removed) the engine and tranny tilt back a lot at a steep angle. Could this mean that the motor mounts are bad? I looked at them and they don't look torn up, cracked, or anything bad.

No, it just means that there's a lot of stress on them when you do that. If you romove the crossmember and just let the tranny fall, it'd probably tear the motor mounts completely out. That rubber just isn't srong enough to hold the entire motor in place with the tranny acting like a boat anchor on it. Consider the leverage at work.

Ok, because I didn't let the tranny hang down all the way because I was worried something would break off. The Chilton's manual says to let it hang and if it's gonna be like that for more than a day, it says to put a jackstand under the engine.

jump under and visually inspect ur motor mounts for any cracks or tears.if ya have any doubt just replace them.energy suspension has the motor and tranny mount kit.major improvement over the stock mounts.

I agree.. in fact, I would replace them regardless!! :D :nice:

ive run them on 3 of my last 5 stangs including my current one and i love them the entire drivetrain is tighter.no more vibe than before esspecially if ur stock mounts are worn.
