Question about plug on tranny

My reverse lights have never worked since I bought the car. Well today when I was plugging all the sensors up, I noticed that there two 2 prong sensors in the transmission...I only have one 2 prong connection coming out of the harness. My question is which sensor does the connection go on or am I missing one of the connections?

What tranny do you have? I'm assuming manual by your sig, but I've never seen two 2 pronged sensors before. An easy to find out which one you want to hook up to is, turn the key on and put the trans in reverse. Then do a continuity check on both sensors. If only one sensor has continuity then thats the one you want. If they both have continuity then take it out of reverse and see which one loses continuity, then thats the one you want. If that doesn't work then sell your car.

When I did my new engine/trans install I never saw a harness to hook up to the trans' neutral safety switch. The only connections my car has is a hook up for the VSS and another one for the reverse.

The reverse plug is more like a cap and would not fit the neutral safety switch harness.

the one extending from the top of the case is for a shift light, some cars such as the thunderbirds came equipped with them... you want to plug it into the one thats on the casing itself on the side.
