Ok so the heads on my mustang (non PI) are worthless they have old springs and leak oil like there is no tommorow.
I'm not wanting to spend any money for PI stuff budget is a huge issue. I do have the PI intake if that matters.
Anyway I have sitting in my garage a very low milage pair of f-150 heads for either a 99 or 00 truck.
Any Pros or Cons either way?
I hear the the truck cams can give some good low end torque. And Its not like it a high revver anyways, cause my max HP on the dyno came at 4650 and Peak Torque came at 2900.
Low end torque is what my car needs desperately.
would I lose too much on the top end to warrent the swap.
Also The heads are low mileage and fee and I would do the work myself. So the only money output would be for new gaskets.

Opinions are apreciated. If you need to know what else is on the car just let me know.

Thanks

BTW the dyno numbers in the sig are way old and I have a lot of problems with the care now the corect peaks are listed above.

Just my opinion but I would see how much you could get from your stock heads from the junkyard. Even if they are useless you may get $30-40 for the value in scrap aluminum, then try and sell the cams from the heads on ebay. If you can get $30 or so out of both pairs you would have enough for a pair or used PI cams to drop in those F150 heads. You can find PI cams for $75 or so used.

My car had a pair of 5.4L 2v heads on it for a few months after my valve seals in my stock 111k mile 2v heads started leaking. I swapped cams and valve springs (because of the aftermarket cams) and the car made the same power as before.
