Question about speedo calibration...

I just ordered Richmond 3.73's and I now need to find a method to recalibrate the speedometer. Hypertech programmer is what I was looking at, just because I was going to go with 2 of my friends who have 96 and 98 GT's, but I read that it will only work on one car and not others, is that true? I'm not going to spend 300 dollars on something that recalibrates my speedometer with little HP gain. I have also looked at the Dallas Mustang Speedcal, but 100 bucks still seems kind of pricey and I have no idea how you wire it or anything... does anybody have suggestions, i'm not looking to spend over 100 bucks.

Your correct about not being able to use the programer for more than one vehicle. This goes for all programers. The second thing is, the Hypertech or any other programer for that matter will NOT fix the speedo on a 98 and older stang. It only works on 99+ stangs.

The DM speedcal is the best and most accurate option. Do not let people talk you into changing the little plactic gear becuase it will shred. Go with the DM speedcal. It's fairly easy to install and comes with good directions. I have not heard one complaint about it.

It's a good product with excellent customer service behind it. Get the SpeedCal. 5 speed or auto? I'm assuming the former.

it's a 5 speed, how easy of an install is it, any other alternatives?

Piece of cake. You will need access to the underside of your car, but it's no big deal. The instructions are pretty clear. For under $100, your options are limited. I've heard of an Abbot speed calibrator, but am not familiar with it. I also agree with the above statement not to get the plastic gear. Cheap, but won't last you at all.

I think brothers performance has the speedcal for a bit cheaper than Dallus Mustang. Try checking them out at www.brothersperformance.com

I agree too, the speedcal will be the easier and cheaper route to go for speedo calibration.

It's the same thing as the DallasMustang SpeedCal. Just a different sticker. I bought mine from Brothers. Works like a charm. The link I posted above to DM is the same set of instructions.
