Question about Stronger Blocks!

I would call BS on the mex. block handling 800hp with anything long term reliablitly/life. They are better than the late model roller blocks or late model "thin wall casts" of the 80+ but I do NOT see them making a safe foundation for anything in the 800hp range at all.

Those early 351's that are stronger will not hold that so there is no way a smaller motor that will have to be reved higher will survive.

Another thing about the older blocks is they will not be roller ready so you will need a retrofit cam setup.

Is a mex. block better than our factory block...yes. Is it anything close to a dart...NO.

I have a mexican block :D

They are located in cars made in the 70's at COMPLETE RANDOM.

Keep ur eye out for 302 equiped lincolns/mercurys/larger cars etc.

They are also on ebay and the classifieds every now and then.

U can call BS on it all u want... proof is in the pudding bud. They perform under high HP conditions very well. I never said or implied they were a dart.. but a NICE step up from stock which is what RC was inquiring about in the first place.

Is the Mexican Block a roller lifter block?

Nope and that is why I concider them a waste if you don't get one for free. My reasoning for this is that if you plan to keed the hyd. roller setup like most would do then you are stuck buying the retro fit lifters that are >$350 a set. Add that to the price of what people want for a mexican block and it starts getting pricey really quick. If you got one for free then it might not be so bad, but most mexican blocks I have seen comand a hefty price. I went dart and will never look back. Sure it was a difficult decision to make as it isn't cheap, but knowing my lust for speed and the fact that I'll have this car forever, it was the right choice for me. I got my parts from Kevin at http://www.kskustoms.com and Rick91GT from http://www.rnhperformance.com did the engine building for me. Rick was a huge asset and I highly recommend him to anyone.

Although I have no experience with the world blocks, from what I've heard they are heavier and can cause header clearance issues due to their extra head bolt casting. While I think this is a great idea, IMO unless you are shooting for the >1500hp mark with gobs of boost I don't think its the best decision. I am keeping a close eye on the Boss block. If the machine work doesn't require a lot and the bore size can SAFELY go to 4.125" and beyond then it might be one of the best options out there. If it ends up needing a ton of machining and if 4.125" bore prove to be THE max then its value goes way down.

I looking for a stable 500hp 500tq

I gave up on finding a roller 351 block; but if I can get retro fit lifters for about 350 I would be happy. Selling my 347 short block would about cover a 351 intake and lifters

Lifter valley girdles

Sorry to steal your thread, but this could help you also. Does anybody know anything about the lifter valley girdles. I forgot who makes them, but would that really help hold the motor together any better.

LOL! That thing is a joke IMO. If you ever saw one and the little fasteners it uses you'd feel the same way. The general concensus is the same, if you want more information on it do a search over at hardcore as its been covered there. You'll see a lot of replies similar to... "you already have a lifter valley girdle, its called your lower intake!"

If is gonna rip that POS isnt going to hold it so why bother with it. And spend the money on it and the machining. What a scam:nonono:

Valley girdle

Thats what i figured, ive never seen one personally but figured i would ask. But for the original question i would go with the new Boss302 block. If i had the money i would already have one in my car.
