question dont hate me

There are other differences between GT's and V6's besides the size of the engine. You would have to buy the 5.0 and swap it in. Then buy better wheels and tires (unless you like the 16in stockers for some weird reason). V6's have different rear end gears than GT's do (I think they are 2.73s or something) and the suspension is a bit different. That's just to name a few things.
After all that, your car still wouldn't be as fast as your current Stang because you are missing a lot of HP so you will have to start modding the engine. Not to mention you will lose a lot on that car if you ever want to sell it because it is now a bastard car.
All in all, I doubt you will save any money. :notnice:

i dont want u all to hate me but and i dont want to but i might. i am paying so much for my car and i was thinkin about selling it and gettin a 99+ v6 just something cheap then puttin a 5.0 in it is that possible. does anyone know what it takes

This sounds as bad as the person who says, "I'll buy a GT and use the extra money to build it up and beat a Dodge Viper for cheaper than what a viper costs" and they have no clue how much work it is. First off, when you sell your car you're going to take a loss on it. Trust me, the dealership will find some way to screw you on this. Then, you have to switch to paying to get the v6 crapper. You will have to replace the motor, upgrade the transmission, probably do a rear end rebuild so its stronger, get some serious computer programming work done, and then on top of all this, you got to actually get the 5.0 motor. In my opinion, its not worth it.

I see your from Franklin County. Seeing as how I'm from the "same area" as you are I know the way idiots around here talk about Mustangs. Whats happened? Did some idiot try and tell you "Mustang GT's are POS" or something ?

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the computer and the transmission . Man it is really not worth the money. And the dealer WILL screw you first and for most.

People have done it, but it's a big hassle. You can actually build up the six cylinder's engine to be a pretty stout competitor (check out supersixmotorsports.com), but in the end you'd have much more fun with the v8 transplant.

You'd have to replace the fuel system, computer, guages (which works with the computer), transmission (T-5 holds about 300hp), rear end (7.5'' 3.27 stock), and bits / pieces of the suspension to hold the power. For the most part it's pretty similar to a GT just missing items like a rear sway bar, quad shocks, etc.

Yeah.. I would listen to these people ;). I have personally swapped my 99 3.8L for a 4.6, and wouldn't do it over again. If you're dead set on it, the only way to go would be to virtually purchase the entire front end of a GT. It's so easy to drive off in one from the dealership :D.

na my thing is the money im paying for the car plus i jsut wanted to see waht it takes jsut kinda intrested in it. i would be different i mean i can get the mottor no problem and im deffinatly not sayin the 4.6 is weak its just hard to mod cause its so expensive. but i think im goin to stick with my car anyways. the way i was lookin at it is i can find a used 99 v6 for like 5k and then i can build a 5.0 motor fueal injected stroke it for 1500. and i just wanted to see how much trouble it is but oh well i cant part wit my car to many tears

*2 Alternatives:

A) Get a job, or a few jobs, and get more money to just keep the Car you have now.

OR

B) Buy a V6, and for the amount of money you wanted to buy a 5.0 engine with, use it for a Turbo or Super Charger :nice: (I suppose you'd want to forge the engine, but the trans and suspension wouldn't -need- to be replaced)

it owuld be waaaaay easier and cheaper just to buy a GT. swapping a 4.6L is one thing, a 5.0L is another. if you are hell bent on this type of thing, buy a 94-95 V6, they ar better set up for a 5.0L since the GT's came with them back then.

He's already got a GT. He wants to sell it and go with a V6 and swap to a 5.0.

Bad idea.

Parts list: ( I know because I once had a V6 and looked into it)

K member to mate the engine to.
Engine (stock won't be as strong as the 4.6)\
Trans (if you plan on anything but a stock 5.0, you'll need it)
Rear end
Computer
Wire harness
Guages
Suspension.

The only thing you'ld be saving is in the monthly payment, and all the things on the list are going to cost you at least 7 grand. Keep the GT and suck it up for a while.

Only other option is to sell it for an older one, in which case they all were right and the dealer WILL screw you. They're in buisness to make money. If they give you what your car is worth, they're loosing money.
