question for anyone who has installed a Magnaflow catback

I am about 90% done installing mine (finally saying goodbye to the dronemasters from the previous owner)

The long hangers for the tips in my kit ARE NOT the same length.

The rubber mounds up under the rear bumper ARE the same height though so I am guessing that these would make one tip sit lower than the other one.

Being that it's not exactly easy to get something out of a rubber hanger once it's in there I figured I'd post to make sure before I tried to hang them.

Was one of these a mistake at the factory?

I cant answer the question but thought i would comment. how could you go from flowmaster to magnaflow? They are two different worlds. That dont really give you that nice 5.0 sound. As long as your happy, thats all that matters. As far as fitment, magnaflow is pretty good with there products, I used there exhaust on my 03 cobra and was of great quality and perfect fitment

To answer your question:

I had MAC flowpaths on my 99 GT, stock exhaust on my 88 LX and Magnaflows on my 99 Cobra.

This car had Flowmasters welded-in when I bought it and I must say, they sound like crap. The MAC flowpaths I had before had a smiliar sound but sounded SO MUCH BETTER, much more deep and carried the sound thru the rpms so much better too. Flowpaths are the only chambered muffler I would ever buy. My biggest problem with them is they were alittle too loud for a summer daily driver.

The Flowmasters have this weak "chug chug chug" pickup truck noise at part throttle and then at like 3,000rpms or so they finally start with a nice deep exhaust note, but they drone pretty bad.

Magnaflow has a nice deep sound at idle, they don't drone and they sound pretty damn mean when you get on it, but quiet down nicely when you keep the rpms low so my neighbors stay happy.

Not to mention the mufflers and entire catback is Stainless steel.

The Flowmasters were welded into the stock catback and both the catback and the mufflers were very rusty.

$360 shipped from Performance peddler for the Magnaflow kit!

Hm... 1st...flowmaster sounds like a*ss compared to Magnaflow....2nd... Magnaflow gives you the nicest sounding 5.0 sound there is PERIOD! I have magnaflow catback with bbk offroad x and shorties. I have had numerous people tell me that my car is the best sounding mustang they have ever heard. So i told my buddy to drive my car(i've never heard it oustide) oh my f*ucking god. I will install magnaflow exhust on every mustang i own, regardless of the year. When i get my stang put back together i'll get videos and prove it to you lol. Flomaster? psh, flowmaster is for you guys that stick to the normal GT with 17 inch cobras and flowmaster cat-back

Now for your question man. Hm...that does look odd. I don't think mine look like that. Tell you what, i got my car all ripped apart and my exhaust is sitting on the floor. i'll drive over to my other house quick and snap a photo for you and post it. Give me 10 mins. brb

I'd really appreciate any info you could give me, looking forward to a pic of your exhaust hangers for those tips.

ha okay i was waiting for you to respond but you didn't. And i might go to bed pretty quick here so i didn't want you to think that they are the same. I was just messing with you man. I didn't drive all the way over there to take a picture of just one of them lol. Yes, they are different lengths. I dont remember which one went on which side though cause my exhaust is all off. Just test fit them and you'll find out. Here is a pic.

You'll love the sound! Trust me. Its sick. What is th rest of your exhaust combo? Oh and have a buddy drive your car once so you can hear it. I dont let ANYBODY drive my car but i let him once just so i could hear it.

Yeah I had Magnaflows on my Cobra and I loved the sound, I'm hoping it sounds similar on a 5.0.

Also, it's hard to tell from your pics since they are not side by side, but this is the spot where mine are a different length.

Yes one of them is shorter just like that. Also, one is longer then the other too.

I would put it on and see. I will have to look at how mine are but I think it's a mess up on their part. Did you get new rubber pieces that attach to those? I will look at mine and get back to you.

And they are easy to get out of the rubber, just use WD40 or spray silicone and they will slide in and out when you are test fitting them.

Are the brackets your asking about for the Muffler hangers? Or for the Tips?

Nice welds and I'm sure that huge bent in spot really helps the flow too.

Gotta go to the hardware store and get a few bolts to connect the midpipe as I broke one of the rusty stock ones removing this mess.

wow! what a nightmare. lol. I hope you guys didnt take my post the wrong way. I agree that flows are cheap. I use them because my car is just a gargae queen and I want the most noise inside the car and out as i can possible get without running straight pipe.
