Question for Dodgestang (GT Valance owners)

Hey Dodgestang, i saw your car in the thread in "talk". BEAUTIFUL!! I have a quick question for you.. what tail pipes did you use to come out of the bezel holes in the gt Valance. My gt valance is on my 66 fastback now and i'm looking for pipes to put on it. What did you use/Did you bend your own pipes and put tips on??? I have 50's flowmasters with 2 1/4" outlet. I'm looking to keep it at 2 1/4" for the tail pipes. Any suggestions?!?! Thanks!

One more question. I initially thought a lifter started ticking, but the motor smoked a little on the right back side. I'll look closer tonight but it looks like the back section of the header gasket is blown out. It is "popping" out air now it seems. So my question is. what is a good quality header gasket and sealant??? Can i just get it at Advance Auto, or should i order it???

you can order GT style tailpipes that bolt right to your muffler and run through the valance from DrGas.com I think they are $160 shipped or so. thats what I have.

The GT style pipes I have seen always added some sort of restiction to the line. The exhaust on my 65 is 3 inch pipes, X, 40 series with 3 inch in and outs and then 2.5 pipes bent up over the axle and then straight out the GT valance. I cut the pipes off just outside of the valance and bought simple chrome tips with an angle that are 2.5 inner diameter....slipped them over the 2.5 aluminized pipes that are there and then tached them in place.

I have a similar setup on mine. I purchased the Flowmaster tail pipe kit (2.5") and had to cut them and rotate them slightly since my car is lowered. I then added some Gibson tips.

Mac also sells stainless steel 2.5" GT tailpipes, $169. Im waiting for mine, currently backordered. Ive got the rest of their True-fit exhaust already installed, its very nice.

Dodge, do you have those tailpipes affixed to your rear frame rails? If so, what sort of bracketry did you use?

You can't see it in the pictures, but just past were the pipes go out of frame there is a metal peice welded up to frame (next to the gas tank about 12 inches behind were the valance part is.

The pipe is welded on to the bracket and the bracket is welded to the subframe.

Then the tip is welded to the pipe. It is all pretty tight so the pipes do not shake around in the valance.
