ECU/Computer Question for friend with 89 5.0

Alright this is word for word exactly what he wanted me to ask you guys, i have no knowledge on this other than what he told me to ask.

He wants to know "how do you tune the computer in an 89 5.0 gt mustang to handle a new camshaft or a new intake manifold or plenum?"
and "what chip or module should i buy to get the most performance out of it"

Right now he has msd ignition, shorty headers, and a flowmaster exhaust system on a t-5 tranny. The engine will also be rebuilt to stock except for 9mm spark plug wires.

Thank you from him.

1989 has MAF instead of SD.

the car should happily accept the cam and intake without any major problems.

now if it was SD, it wouldnt be the same.

Yep - though it will depend upon how radical a cam he chooses. But generically speaking, the 'puter should be able to work with it. And the new breathing accessories should be fine too.

Good luck to him with the project.

The MAF should be able to handle it.

Any Tuning above that should be done on a dyno with a custom-burned chip.
