Question for frpp crate motor owners

Suggestion, anyone?

I got a GT-40 crate engine with the E303 cam and X-heads. I was wondering what the power range with the E cam is and what would be the best Intake combo for the engine's power range. I have an AOD with a mild 2,000 B&M stall, I plan on geting 3:73's. I know I still need 24lb injectors, bigger MAF and all that good stuff. I'm just wondering what is the best intake for a daily driver with my set up's prower range: TFS Street or Track, Edlebrock Performer or P. RPM, Cobra, GT-40, BBK, Holly Systemax, or other? oh yeah, What would be the best TB size. I hear everything from 65-75mm. I just want a reliable and fun car. Mid 13's is all I'm asking for now, Sound possible? Thanks for your time :nice:

The 24 lbers should be fine (for now) although if you can afford a good tune I'd go larger and allow for more power later. The TFS street and a 70mm or 75mm TB and spacer should be great on that combo, as would a Pro-M 80 MM MAF. Opinions are like bungholes though. hehe i assume your exhaust is 1 5/8?

Power range is a pretty wide open term to use. I'm putting out a bit over 300 RWHP with my E-cam but there's a guy that works next door to me using the same cam in a completely different N/A motor with much higher compression that's putting out gobs more HP than I am. There's almost no simlarities in our setups and the motors don't come close to sounding or performing the same at all. Most of the FR blocks identify their N/A power rating right in the documentation. Of course, power adders etc. pretty much change everything. I'd be more concerned with the hypeuretic pistons in that block than I would the cam if you were ever going to consider a power adder.

I believe it is from 2500-6000. I notice it come in at 2500 and pulls good to 6000. With that cam and the cobra intake my peak torque is around 4000. Well as to the intake I personally like the Cobra I will be getting the lower ported in the spring. I think the intakes you mentioned are all good but don't have experience with them. Everyone has there favorites and may be biased towards theirs. On the dyno mine hit 317RWTQ with the E cam and Cobra with the X heads, 70mm TB, and 30lb jectors. HP was 279, i was told i should have got the 24's instead. I would recommend 4.10's over the 3.73's for an auto.

go with the TF Street Heat or Edel Performer. If you go with the Holley, Track Heat, or Perf RPM you're definitely gonna need more stall or its gonna suck out the hole with an AOD. I HAD the RPM and cut 2.4 60's with my H/C/I combo because of the bog out the hole with the AOD (only 2400 stall but it stalled much less than that). Switched to the Performer upper and it feels much better, we'll see what the track has to say.
