How can I tell if the tensioner on my GT needs to be replaced? At WOT, I'm getting a sound from the front of the motor that sounds a little like detonation (obviously, this is a possibility as well), as well as some popping and clunking when driving at slow speeds and in and out of the throttle slightly. I've read the numerous threads about how folks discoverered their tensioner was bad after they pulled it off, but I gots a blower mounted in front of mine . . . that ain't so easy. I don't want to go to all that trouble to find out it was something else.

Recommendations?

can you get your hands onto the serpentene belt? if you can pull on the belt and see if you can move the tensioner this way.. If you can not move the belt when you pull on it hard then the tensioner is seized.

Centris can sometimes be belt eaters. Are you sure the belt you have just isn't going bad?

No, I'm not. But the belt only has about 5,000 miles on it. I'll look into both suggestions in the morning. Thanks!
