Question for those with CNC Machined Aluminum Battery Trays

This is the one I jut got for my Optima Battery, any suggestions on how you installed it in the engine bay?

For mine I used an aluminium L bracket I found in my friend's shop and use the power steering hose bracket hole as the mounting place on the frame. It moved the hose out a tad but nothing to be conserned with. Once I found where it sat even I mocked it up and drilled holes in the base of the mount and countersunk them so the base and L bracket could be bolted together. On the other side my optima mount uses internally threaded aluminium rods so I just drilled holes in the fender and throughbolted the rods through the aluminium base from the inner fender. Just be careful when bolting the positive on.

Good idea, but too bad it wouldn't be legal at the track.
IMO, return it, and get an approved battery box, and put the battery in the trunk, nothing looks better in the battery spot, than nothing at all.

i though Optima batteries didnt need a battery box, just a bulkhead (or a notchback) to separate ti from the passenger compartment? aren't the Optima's already sealed?

I don't truely know the answer to that, but imo it's just not worth the risk of the track official saying no go. I used the taylor kit, which i got very very cheap, if i did it again, i would use the blue moroso box.

Any battery located in trunk needs to be either in a sealed SFI approved box (moroso or taylor make nice ones) or you must have bulkhead ( hatchback w approved material and thickness) or firewall (coupe)
