Question on the 1/4 window louvers....

How bad do the window louvers hurt your POV to check your blind spot? Those of you who have them of course...

I am thinking about these right here and am wondering if you can see a little bit out of them on the passenger side?

how big of a pain are they to install/ is it very reversable?

i love the SHR ones but i dont like the idea of removing the window unless its extremely easy.

It's not as hard as it looks, but I doubt it'd be easily reversible.

Like I said, it's not as hard as it looks. Just make sure you get the install kit with them and take your time. The interior literally pops right out in minutes and cutting out the old windows was cake with the window removal tool. After that it's just a matter of applying the primer, caulk, pushing the louvers in. and waiting.

Now that I've done it, I could probably do it again in less then 2 hrs.

its reversible. to remove, you just repeat the same process you did for the glass removal.

I had slotted that you can see through from the Ford Racing catalog on a 2005. They still block your view. I have none on my 2007. The original Shelby's actually replaced the vents with glass. I think I am going to leave my car alone this time. I need the visibility.

I have the ones that I believe you have pictured. They stick only to the glass, not the body, and there's no screen in them, just open holes. Yes, you can see out of them but of course not to the degree you did before they were there. You can still plainly see if there's a car next to you on the right, no problem. Your view will just be slotted. The slots are properly angled for viewing.

+1 on the SHR louvers!
I installed my own as well. It isn't that hard if you take your time and like 69mach1 said, I could probably do it again in under 2 hours The visibility is near zero on the driver side (due to the angle), but very good on the passenger side. If you do get the SHR louvers, I suggest getting them directly from SilverHorseRacing.com.

Do they hold secure with the 3m adhesive (no blowing off at 120?) and is cleaning possible if you use a brush to get inside the slots and rinse it well? Also, how do they look from the inside, can you see the adhesive strips?

The SHR ones look OK (probably much better view from the inside, eh?) but I don't want to remove my windows and I actually prefer the appearance of the ones in dro's first post...they look more like the ones on a '65 fastback IMO.

roush are the best IMO when it comes to cleaning,
There are 3 brakets that are held on by 3M tape and then there are screws to hold the louvers on. So with 3 tiny torque screws (really small size for security) you can remove them and clean the windows.

IF anybody wants them i have a guy for cheap that can order them unpainted and his shop can paint them cheaper than roush will.

I have ones off ebay (parents got them for me as a Christmas gift) and they are actually very good quality and the paint matched perfect.

Mine do block some visibility, but its not terrible. Here is a shot from what it looks like if you were to turn your head and look out:



My biggest piece of advice is this: If you get ones that use 3M tape, cut a small notch out of the bottom corner towards the front of the car. One of the ones on my car didnt have a bit of tape in the corner and the other did. The one that has the tape all the way around the corner ends up building up water when you wash the car and its a pain to get out. The other side drains perfectly.

The interior and exterior pics were really helpful...as was the advice for leaving a gap in the tape for draining purposes!! My car is similar (black w/ spoiler delete) so I could get a good idea of what it would look like by viewing your photos.

I have no problems with blind spots with mine and they have never come off at speed. I wouldn't take them through a car wash though. I also cut drain slots in mine before installing, makes a big difference.

I completely covered mine up. No visibility problems at all. If you just take your time to look and have your mirrors adjusted appropriately, you'll be fine.
