Question regarding I6 to V8 swap

Hi,
I'm swapping the I6 for a V8 in my '70. I found out that the brackets from the frame to the motor mounts are different between the two engines. I found some brackets on ebay and bolted them up.

The thing is, I'm not certain whether I have them on the correct sides of the car. One of them has the letter "R" on it. I put that on the right side standing in front of the car looking into the engine compartment (driver's side). The brackets are offset from their mounting surface. The way I have them mounted right now, the offset is forward. If I swapped them around, they would put the engine farther back in the car.

Anyone have a picture or can tell me if I have this correct? I test-fit the engine in the car, and it seems a little farther forward than I expected. I have a few other things to complete, but I hope to be ready to drop the engine back in this weekend. It would not be good to have everything hooked up and find out it's wrong.

It is pretty universal that the side of the car is identified from the driver's position. R is right side which is where the passenger sits (at least in most of the world). Maybe we should have gone with starboard and port, as they do on ships.

I think you're correct and I have the mounts on the wrong sides.

I've been searching to find the info or pictures, but no luck so far. I did find a sketch in a Mustang restoration guide book I have. The mounts are two piece, with a small angle bracket and a larger more complicated piece. The book seems to show the angle bracket toward the front of the car. So the book backs you up.
