I noticed when shifting that there is a little bit grinding in every gear but mostly only noticable when i lightely hit the gas and go slow. could this be that the shifter is a little loose maybe or the clutch needs adjusting? It can be noticable in second and third gear. Also its just a light grind.

Adjust the clutch cable first. That is most likely the issue

its your clutch cable because before i changed my clutch cable my gt used to do that.

do i need a new clutch cable or can i just adjust it? I am a total noob at this so how would i adjust it if i can? thanks guys for the replies.

if you still have the stock quad, then just lift up on the clutch pedal(put your foot under it) and lift it a bit. you should feel it rasie a little and then stop. if it makes a clicking noise while doing this, then your clutch was out of adjustment, and the ford "self adjuster" is adjusting the cable lenght.

how many miles on the tranny? synchros could be a little worn out.
