Questions about FR500 wheels and tires

i think goodyear makes a 275/35/18 in the f1 gs-d3 ive heard quite a few people say there a excellent tire.

The guy at the tire store said that to get the spedometer to read right I had to go with 245/40/18s. He recommended Toyo Proxes FZ4s. Four of them would cost $582.00. How does that sound to you guys?

265's front and 285's rear there is no replacement for tire displacement

Does anyone have a picture of a Mustang with 265 in front and 285 in the rear? I'll consider it if it looks good enough.

There's a lot of good info in this thread. Just my $.02, I'm running 265/35/18's in the front and 285/35/18's in the rear on my '01 Cobra. I am running chrome Y2K Cobra R's, genuine Ford. I believe the width and backspacing is the same as the FR500. I got the Yokohama AVS's because the revolutions per mile were the same as the stock size tire. (and yes, the same number size tires are not the same exact size). There are no clearance issues whatsoever and the speedo is right on. The only thing the tire guy said the 265's were a little hard to get the beads to seat in the 9 1/2 rim. They do look good.

i dont think i would put a 245 size tire on a 9" rim, i have 265's on my saleen rims and they look dang near perfect for the rim

Ride quality with 18" wheels will be bad but it depends on your preference. Do you like caddies?

do yourself a favor and save some money...get the same diameter front and back so that you can rotate your tires

I completely agree. Not being able to rotate your tires cuts tread life in half. So if you are going with different sizes front and back then prepare to be purchasing tires at least once a year if it is a daily driver.

The 285/35 18, according to the Discount Tire calculator, will only set your speedo off by .43 mph at 65. 245's will look skinny on a 9, especially the rear.

I never weighed mine, but I would guess in the 27lb range.
