So i took my car out for the first "long" cruise with the new stroker, besides running hot and feeling like a bucking bronco at anything below 3k rpm, it runs pretty strong with out the blower

Now my question,I have Maier leafs that are about 20 years old,low miles, but probably sagging from time. The disatnce from the wheel center cap to fender lip is about 12 3/4 inches.Im going to replace them. What should i get and what is your ride height.

I should note,i have dual batteries and NOS bottle, amps and panels in the trunk if that makes any weight difference.

Thanks, Mario

I still don't understand how those 275 rear tires don't rub. From that one photo it looked like the rear fenders were just about sitting on the tires. Maybe it was just the wrong angle. Or maybe that's what caused your bucking problem. can't help you on the leafs, sorry . . .

It doesnt rub when its parked

Actually, i think if the springs werent so old, and i didnt have the extra wieght it would be fine.Normal driving it doesnt rub, only on major dips.

For what it's worth, I replaced my rear leafs with stock parts about 7 years ago. My rear fender lips are 26.75 " off the ground. I'm running 24.75" diameter tires. This is on a 1970 convertible. The back end seems way too high to me, but that should be the stock ride height. Edit: since the stock tires are about 25.9" in diameter, the rear would be about 1/2 inch higher with them.

Hopefully you'll get some answers from people with cars more similar to yours.

Ok here are my Numbers

Maier 165 Race Springs

Ground to fender is 24”

Center of Hub to Fender 13”

Tires are 23 3/4” - 265/50 14”

There is about 1” of clearance from the tire to fender.

Hope that helps.

If you with the Maier’s they highly recommend that you run Heavy-duty shackles.
They recomended 165 over the 160's for a small block stroker.

I still need to lower the front a bit.

thanks

My dad put maier 165's on about 20+ years ago,i think their just sagging from time, not really mileage.your fender lip is about a 1/4 in higher then mine, which could be my extra wieght
so maybe they did sag that much, but might be weaker.
