I picked up my GT last week and absolutely love it. I have a few questions:

1.) I have the upgraded split 5 stars and was wondering if there is a pony center cap available instead of the Ford one that comes with it.

2.) Can visors be purchased without the warning tags, and how about lighted visors?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1) I dont think the center caps from ford fit on these wheels, but you may be able to find other ones.

2) You can take off the warning tags with an iron, i dont know about getting new visors.

You may be able to find after-market generic lighted visors out there but you're going to have to do some wiring to get them to work. Fortunately the convenience light console is right nearby so you'd likely need to bring the wiring up under the headliner and then back down to tap into power under the console.

thanks

Thanks for the help guys. I'll have to try the iron to remove the sticker and hope I don't ruin the visor.

Now if only I can find pony center caps instead of the boring Ford ones that came with the car.

Thanks again.

I wouldn't use an iron if I were you. I took my stickers off with a hair dryer. I just held it on them until they got sorta wrinkly and then just peeled then off. Good luck!

Do the visors for the convertible have lighted mirrors?

I don't know... I am just wondering because the SN95 convertible had lighted mirrors standard right up to the '04 models.

Do the visors for Canadian models have the warning tags?

I'll have to try the hair dryer first. One quick question, did it leave any residue or marks on the visor?

I don't know about the Canadian market, but they've become standard in the U.S., pretty annoying. My friend's 03 GT conv. 100th anniversary had lighted mirrors, but I don't know about the 05. You'd think they'd offer it as an option at the very least.

IRON only with damp cotton towl over viser, I read this on a forum somewere awhile back, take visors off, be carfull use a folded damp white cotton towel between viser and iron, don't know if this or just iron method will work (never tried it but you may want to check $ on replacement viser if they get melted or messed up.

much debate about the legality of removing those federal decals

I dont know the answer to this, but maybe someone does. If the 04's had lighted visors, will the 04's fit an 05?

I would like a lighted visor for the wife.

I know 79-93 versions are way different for sure
94-04 I think are a different design as well,

you may be able to adapt a factory lighted visor mirror from a different car or even mfgr. into the 05 visers (check salvage yards for a similer sized mirror) adapt yourself or take to a custom upolsterer to work, I've removed lighted visers from headliners/roofs and the wiring or connection runs through the pivit part of visors, some have no wires just a + & - contact type of conection that may be hard to adapt to your car.

also Ford may have this avail. in '06 or later?

ask your ford parts counter guy, they may have or know of something that will work.

just buy the wife a nice lighted cosmetic mirror and keep it in glove box, DON'T RIG YOUR CAR FOR A LITTLE LIGHT!
