Hi and greetings to all :SNSign: members!

I have recently bought the following combo :

BBK 75mm TB
Cobra Lw/Upper Ported to match Heads
AFR 165 studs
Hardened Pushrods
FR Roller Lifters
Crane Cams RR 1.6
Lunati 51014 cam lift int500/ext 510
BBK EQ Lenght Headers
Mac O/R X Pipe
Mac Catback

Well that´s all ive got so far i have this things resting under my bed! :nono:
because i cant figure out completely what else i should buy

the "wishlist" goes like this :

ARP Head Bolts
Felpro Head Gaskets
Felpro or any other Intake Gaskets
Felpro Header gaskets
Water Pump & timing cover gaskets (camshaft installation)
Pro-M 80mm Maf
FR 24 lbs/hr Iny.
Walbro 255 lph fpump
(Insert here brand) Fuel Presure regulator @ 40+2 psi??

Well things go like this i am really hoping for something arround 300rwhp and some 320rwtq with this stuff installed there will be more to come like :

T-5 Rebuilt kit
FR Alum. Driveshaft
Engine,Trans,Diff sinthetic fluids

and faaaaaarrr away i can foresee a 2.2 KB @ around 8-10 psi (love the low tq)

Are my spectations too far rwhp & rwtq for the actual things & the suporting hw
Is there any thing i am missing here please help!!! , i would love to have a reliable street highway car
Also what timing should i use 10btdc? or something like 14btdc , im not planing any tune only fuel adjusts,
should i use the .054 spark plug gap? , no new ingnition stuff here . please advice me !!
Sorry i forgot the stang has 70k miles on the clock
Thanks so much in advance sorry for the long post

Hey bud welcome to stangnet.

I'm not too familiar with your cam, although it doesnt seem too agressive. Your intake isnt the best either, although it is ported so it helps a lot. Some have done it, but if I recalls MOST Cobra intake users come a little short of the 300rwhp range. About your timing, DEFINATELY more than 14*. Those heads love timing. About the spark plug gaps, I thing I had mine set @ .052 for my AFR heads, on Autolite 3924 ( I think). About your fuel pressure regulator, get either a Kirban or an Accufab. All other brands have either stories about leaks or stuff similar. It would be also good to get a new timing chain, while you're in there.

looks like you have a good start to a really nice setup. as far as header gaskets, its up to you, but its not worth the money IMO. just slap some RTV stuff on the header and bolt it up. most engine builders don't even bother with header gaskets anymore.

Thanks for the responses a little history about this combo is that a good friend had it installed on his 95 , he barely put on this stuff 1k miles and then he was for a bigger heads afr 185 and other stuff , so he sell this to me , he made a 14.6 et with granny shifting because his T5 had the 2nd speed messed up , so it was a 1-3-4 shifting , ohh and this time was @ 7470 ft above sea level yes here we are at those altitudes so engines suffer asma here, on other things the header gasket is just for saving troubles with exhaust leaks, for just 16 bucks i will save many troubles with the headers , and the cam is a good cam a little bit aggressive but its a nice cam, i want to use the larger inyectors and the FRP and the fuel pump because i make a lot of hw driving between those altitudes and sea level altitudes , so pingin and detonation is concerning me a lot , i dont want to melt anything, this friend never took it to sea levels , so with stock 19 lbs iny , and stock fuelpump and stock FPR was fine , a little bit lean i think but no detonation bc lacking fuel , i am beeing paranoic here because i want to be a free of trouble modding since first day , so i am a little nervous . i think it can make a little more than 300 rwhp heck! the carcraft guys made a stock 302 just with heads and a 1.7 rrs with stock cam a 405bhp engine , so i think it fine to pretend a little more than 300rwhp with this combo.

Thanks again for the responses , and again sorry for the long post! keep those tips coming!!!

Thaks for the reply!

I dont have any plans to make any tuning on this combo my wallet is completely empty after this shopping :notnice: actually i am suffering to buy gaskets and even the head bolts :rlaugh: , as i stated before i plan to run this with only an increase/decrease of 2 psi on fuel presure aprox. i have seen this awsome ride :

he maded 306rwhp with no tuning props to him!! :hail2:

so i am currently have no plans of any kind of tune, i am all for tweecer :nice: , but i cant afford 700+dlls now, i am searching under the stones to get the money only to complete the assembly

You can always hit up a local dyno when they're having specials .... like on a Mustang day or something. My local dyno shop does this.

I realize you said the flow is low .... but I was just throwing that out there to help you when you DO get the dinero to tune. I think you will NEED the tune .... escpecially because, like Grady mentioned, the altitude factor.

Believe me, I have built my share of cars on a shoe string budget so I understand about the lack of funds.

You being at the high altitude will change things. There is gonna be some say "the maf takes care of all that stuff". It does, but I think it can only do so much on its own.

It would seem to me, you being so high, could help with trying to run the stock maf/inj's. I did not see if you be a GT or a Cobra. If you are a GT, you will start off with a leaner tune in general.

I'd not place a lot of faith in an extra 2lbs of pressure. You'll have to adjust it to suit your particular combo if you ask me. Besides, without a wb, you are not gonna know a whole lot anyway.

As for you reaching your hp/tq goals. A tune is not always necessary when talking about wot performance.

When we put these combos together, there is a range the results are gonna fall in due to differences in parts, pcms, installation techniques, altitude (in your case), etc.

We may get great power but bad drivability
Might be the other way around
Might not get either
Might get both

We put it together and take our chances to see what happens.

Unless we got something wrong like a defective part or we did something stupid putting it together like cover ports with gaskets

A tune can help where we fell a bit short ;)

Even if we get lucky and get great power/drivability, a tune will yield more performance.

Look forward to seeing how it all works out for you :nice:

Good Luck and keep us in the loop about your progress :SNSign:

Thanks again for the feedback!!!

Well there is a little issue here , i am in mexico , so afaik there are only 3 dynos in all mexico, of those 3 only 1 can make dynotuning and is far away from i live , like making a trip from LA. to Phoenix (ok is not thaaat much) and of course the Highways quality is not that good , so is a loong trip like 398miles , and another 2 issues is that dynotuning is only for OBD II computers as they stated on their website and the expenses of the trip + the extreme cost of the dynotune there ( bc is the onlyone in here can u say big time monopoly!), so it not a good option, other that i have is doing a trip to USA to TX (nearest point from where i live (800 miles LOL)) and do a good tune there stating the altitude thing to the ppl that will doit.

Its a 95 GT bone stock to the paper filter with 70k+ miles , in fact the buddy that had this combo was using stock Fuel pump, Inyectors and Stock MAF, Once i had the heads i can see valves and he was a little bit lean but not much, not enough to ping or anything , he had the timing set to 11* afaik , and he was beating all day stock ls1 and stock srt4, the diferences is that bc this is my primary trip car , i do a lot of driving between 0 ft and 7000+ ft of altitude , i live @ 7000+ft altitude so there is no need to make an inmediate tune or inmediate upgrade of iny, fuel, maf , but when is time to make a trip i prefer to make it safe knowing it will not be thirsty of fuel at sea level altitude , ohhh BTW , this combo never made a Check engine Light or any idle issues in my buddys car, so bc of that i can be in sure that this combo can work out
on my car as a "Plug & Play" <- yes i know not all engines are equal but my engine is more "young" and i think much more taken care of than my buddys engine..

Note : this combo + cam had an amazing flat torque from arround 3200 rpm all the way to 5800 , really was neck breaking, even at those altitudes , i want to feel that on sea level! it will break lose tires as soon u WOT!!!

I am really exited to install this on my car!!!

Well sorry for the looong post again , i will keep you updated , and if i can get a camera i will post a nice update with pictures and all ,

p.s. i have never , ever done a engine mod like this , all the knowlege is theorical and learned from books and internet (forums, sites, whatever) , but i have nice documentation on every step , plus i am a dedicated person and i will never make anything before consulting documentation, or this forums, so i am doing this for the first time , i dont have any rush it can take me 1 day or 1 month to fullly assembly this so i will be updating this!!

thanks for everything!!
