What did you use to screw the plate that the pipe goes through. Mine didnt come with any screws and there arent any holes to screw it into the car anyway. I jsut used a big washer and tightned the top down real good and put a piece of the crappy hose that came with it under the plate to help support it.

Yeah, he's talking about the grommets........two pieces of metal with thread that push down into the rubber and it should have a place where you take you original bolt that goes into the fender well............I ended up taking the saw and running mine straight behind the headlight.....the new MAF was longer and bunched up the rubber connector's and was causing a little problem...........so I broke out the Dewalt...

LOL.......I don't even have that anymore.............When I get around to it I think I'll buy another CAI kit and take it back into the fender............or maybe I'll do like most people and take the headlight out at the track........or not.........

Hey let me get those snaps if you dont need them.
And thats rediculous when ppl take out a headlight. You couldnt pay me to take mine out after all the trouble I had installing them.

Mine didnt come with that plate. I thought about making one but it seemed a pain. I use 'stuff' to fill around the inlet hole in the fender. It would look SO much nicer to have a plate though.

If you go to the hardware store, take a look at Well nuts - that might be similar to what Will is talkin about (I havent seen the actual fasteners these CAI's come with, so I might be way off base). Well nuts are used to secure roof racks to cars and stuff like that.

Good luck.

my plate has two things sticking down at the bottom where the stock airbox was, but it doesn't fit because the harness goes right through there and the plate doesn't sit flat.

there is also a notch where the screw in the fenderwell is supposed to hold it in, but mine didn't have the screw when i bought the car.

so i am not using the plate

I dont see how you guys arent using the plate. Mine seems like it woul pop off after a few hard bumps w/o the plate supporting it.

I just have my plate held on by that big top bolt. I had the plate off for a while and wouldn't recommend doing that. From the cai moving the fender wore into the cai pipe not all the way through but I bet not much longer and there would have been a hole

I didn't have that screw for the stock airbox either. Wonder what thread it is. I am not running the plate right now either. Mainly because I just threw mine on last night.

So it was supposed to come with a couple plastic push in things? I'll have to go hunt some down at advance tomorrow after work. Might try to find the right size bolt for that top piece also.

I have an extra plate I probably give away also. I got one of these CAI's for free when I bought some parts. It was in good shape but someone had cut the flange for the MAF off so I just ordered another one.

Need a plate or a template of a plate

Seeking a template for that plate that mounts to the finder which the CAI is supposed to go through.

Just acquired a 95 GT. The current CAI was just sitting in the fender hole, no brackets, nothin. Cheap aluminum one, and of course, it had a hole rubbed through where it was rubbing on the steel fenderwell. yipes.

Picked up a nice steel one from the used car parts place, now need to purchase or fashion a plate for the fender.

I can make my own template and then cut one out of tin, but that'll take some time to tinker. So I'm hoping someone has a link to where I might buy one, or maybe a template I can download, or even has one they want to sell at a reasonable price.

Thx.
