Ima go under the car to see whats up with a noise I been hearing down there lately. But while im already down there, i wanna install the alum. DS ive had in my room for a while. So my question here is....
Do i really need to install a loop? I dont have one yet, but dont have money for one now. And my car is pretty much stock with an auto tranny, so i dont see why it should break, besides, its supposedly stronger than the stock one.

Install without, yes or no?

you should really install that even if you dont have an al. driveshaft. imagine you are going down the quarter mile and you shift and snap that front yoke. your car then catapults itself down the rest of the track....

just something to think about

I'm not trying to flame or nothing, but I don't see one listed on your mods...? Just curious. I think we all know what can happen if the front yoke snaps...

exactly what does the safety loop do??
Loops around the driveshaft, near the transmission, to prevent the catapult effect if the front yoke snaps and the driveshaft becomes no longer attached to the transmission, therefore possibly acting as a pole vault and violently throwing the rear of the car up in the air.
Regarding my post above, I guess I was wrong in thinking everyone knew what happens if the front of the DS disconnects from the trannie at speed...my bad.

i wasnt trying to act smart or anything...sorry if i came off sounding like...whatever...

some people dont realize how important they are so i was just trying to explain what may happen without one.

i dont have one, but i am getting one before i start racing again in october.

'Tis cool, bro - and, again, I really wasn't trying to be a d1ck about it. :nice: :nice:
Hat's off to anyone pulling it up to the tree and running it like they hate it. And big time props to anyone doing anything about safety - both on and off the track. I'm still amazed at people who don't wear seatbelts. One day we'll find them underneath the dash in a rather ackward and painful position.

Where did you find an alum. DS for an auto? And what year is your stang?
I did what Dark Knight Gt said. I bought the manual version frpp ds and swapped the yokes. my stang is a 2001 and the install went very well. i got it from mustangtuning.com for like 140 but DAMN they went up to 220+!!!! (something like that). i'de say i got a good deal.
as far as the safety loop, i WILL be installing one later on, but wanted to know if i could install w/o it now.
