I need an opinion on my combo im planning for engine alone.

typhoon intake kit w/ 65mmtb

GT40 P heads

Vortech kit V-3 Si-Trim, W/Charge Cooler

Will the heads and intake hold up to the vortech?

And is it necessary to upgrade ignition.

Thanks

The heads and such will hold up, however I would definately upgrade the ignition. Don't some vortech's come with a new ignition box? Also do you have the heads/intake/throttle body already and are just going to be adding the s/c.

Thanks for the replys, and no i havent added any parts yet. The motor is completely stock. I posted a thread late last month mentioning i was takeing a loan out for my mustang. So i'm ordering the parts next week when i get home from fort bliss. I'll be leaving to Camp Pendleton CA on the 20th of april. So to have a fun yet reliable sharp looking ride i picked out a few things for the car.

Like mentioned

gt40p heads

Typhoon intake kit w/ 65 mm tb

Vortech SI trim kit

Saleen 18in deep dish for the back and saleen mid deep for the front

parts needed:

I also need an opinion on Header back exhaust system something that sounds mean but not tooo loud and annoying.

Also is their a rebuild kit available for the trans that could put up to the power i would be produceing?

Will their be any other supporting mods needed for my combo? What kind of numbers hp/tq would i be looking at with the set up i'm throwin at the car?

I'm not sure what you mean by "hold up".
You can use whatever heads and intake you want with a supercharger.

Would i use those parts? no, with a loan out, i'd certainly buy better heads and intake.

The fact that you are buying budget engine parts then going with a charge cooler doesn't make all that much sense to me.
All the charge cooler will do in your case is offset the extra heat that your heads are storing do to lack of flow capacity.

Skip the cooler, and get better heads and intake, TW's, afrs, gt40x, etc.
For an intake i'd look at the edebrock series. Also get a 70mm TB and spacer too.

Wasn't aware their was saleen 18 inch deep dish rims out there, i thought they were 17's.

For ignition you will probably need a 6btm.

For exhaust, if you are keeping this car forever, buy quality, so you only have to do it once.
My preference is bassani or magnaflow.

Other supporting mods, you'll need a meter (pro m or PMAS) with matching injectors.
A High pressure 255 gss340 in tank fuel pump.

Thanks for the reply

And your correct that was my typo they are 17"

I am going to be keeping the car, so quality is important.

But I also wanted to budget my fundings so i could leave space for a rainy day.

Its game time next week, I have 2 lists of parts that are ready to order. One list is the budget list I mentioned earlier. The other list is w/o the supercharger.

But here is the list i have prepared that i have on standby.

I know the stangnetters here have opinions, which is why i posted my thread.
Most of you all have done upgrades and know better than i do. So please if you see anything im missing or should change let me know. If this is a better idea than adding a blower let me know. Thanks

I would get a 70mm throttle body, it's pretty much good for all setups, so you won't need to re purchase if you get a supercharger.

I see no point in using a 190lph pump, when 255lph pumps cost nearly the same.
Buy the pump under the walbro brand, which is who makes all the pumps anyway.
Alot of times on ebay you can get the pumps for well under $100.

I would not mix and match with all 3 pieces of the exhaust, you leave yourself open to fitment issues.
SLP is also known for being a little on the obnoxious side, but i've only heard it on 4.6's and it's not a sound that i liked.
I see no cam there. My thoughts are always custom, add $300 for that.

As for upgrading the t5, the only kits that give it any noticeable upgrade are astro and Gforce, both of which are going to cost alot.

I would however buy the edelbrocks used if i got a good deal, same as the gt40x.

If you stay with the NA setup, i don't see the need for the msd ignition, i have the 6al, and i really feel that it didn't do a damn thing.

For $1200, i wouldn't buy the edelbrocks, not that there is anything wrong with them, just for that much loot, i'd prefer the afr's or Track heats.

Thanks Is the trick flow hci package a good buy? Because it would be simpler to get that with the 70 mm tb and 255 fp Posted via Mobile Device[/i]
Also I heard the afr heads require the pistons to be knotched

The trick flow package is pretty good. It should be a consideration for you.
I just don't think it saves you any money.
Afr 165's shouldn't require any notching, i think it's the 185's and up.

The trick flow and Holley kits are both really good. You shouldn't need to upgrade your WC t5 with just hci, if you go boost or funny gas you'll probably want to though. Also....are you working with a new short block? Might wanna check compression on all your cylinders to make sure it's a tight package.

Good to go ill have to call him.
My buddy is testing the cylinders compression, what should they be at while cranking?
Also im having trouble identifying the issue I have been having getting a reading from my computer in the car. Which leads me to believe that it might not be tuneable until the problem is resolved. Will the car still run without a tune? I know it wont run the way it should. but will it at least be driveable to a certain extent??

a pretty proven package for an NA stock shortblock would be TFS TW heads, holley systemax intake or edelbrock rpm2 intake, and an anderson n4 cam.

or you could call camshaft innovations, tell Jay what you want to do and let him design a package for you. i would suggest the latter.
