Trying to do a door lock actuator in a 89 5.0 LX. It's pretty straight forward, but my only question is that the new rivet that I got from latemodelrestoration.com doesn't seem to fit inside the bracket of the new lock actuator. The end of the rivet is a little mushroomed and it's just a little bit too big. Am I missing something? Is it just that I need to hammer the rivet in there some before using the rivet gun or does the hole in the bracket need to be drilled out a bit?

I am assuming the 89 is in the same place as a 93..... If you are going to rivit it and don't have a gun... I would suggest stopping by your favorite body shop and let them rivit it in for you. Shouldn't cost much and would take care of the question. Usually when I replaced one, I just slid the old one out of the bracket and put the new one in the old bracket already rivited.
