Guys, 351W is almost done and ready to install. I have not purchased GT40 P headers yet. Do I need to wait and install them first and then drop in the engine, or can I place the engine in, and swing them in later. I do have a tubular K member , so there is a little more space then normal under the engine. I will be using FMS GT40 P headers. I will not be using any long tubes.

you can out them in later if you want.long tubes are the ones that cause the problems.shorties are easy to take off and put on.

See Im on both sides of the fence here. On one side, Im impatient and would want to just drop the motor in if its ready. But on the other side, if it was easier to get the headers in with it out... Id probably just wait. I just purchased my 351 block from a kid I work with but I plan on going BIG. Real big. Coast high performance 427 kit = $800. I figured if Im going to do this, Im only going to do it once so I might as well go as big as I can. Only thing that sucks is at first the kid was going to sell me a roller block but then he got his truck working again.. so now Im getting non roller which means I can tack on another 500 or so for retrofit lifters. Luckily this project will be at least two years in the making so I can save up a little here and there. Just got a nights and weekend job at Advance Auto and the extra cash is going to the car fund. Plus I work at a Lincoln dealership by day. So Im not even trying to think about that far into the future yet. Im still hoping Ill come across a roller block in the meantime.

In any case I see youre running P heads. Any work done to them? What intake and cam are you going to run? Good luck with the project.
