Is it possible to still use the amps but use the auxillary plugs for my iPod? I'd be swapping the 460 hu for an older alpine headunit. I ask this because the back of the Alpine HU has the red and white connections and if I can save $500 by just going and getting a $10 cable, I wouldnt complain at all.

What auxiliary plugs are you talking about?

Is there an aux input built into 2002 Mustangs that you want to tie into? If so, is it somewhere on the dash or console, or is it on the face of the factory radio?

Or, do you just mean the Alpine has an aux input?

Either way, the Alpine needs to have an aux input and if it does then it should play through the system just like the radio or CD does.

I meant the alpine has the aux, because my 460 HU is bad, I wanna tear it apart and get whatever cd's are inside of it. I guess my problem is, I was worried about not being able to use my amps if I Plug the Aux cable into Alpine HU as opposed to the 6 disk changer.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see why it wouldn't behave just like any other source as far as the Alpine is concerned.

The Alpine has an auxillary line input - either RCA plugs or a 1/8" jack somewhere on it - and the aux input is one of the selectable sources to play from, right? If you've installed the Alpine HU correctly so that its CD and radio plays through the factory amps and speakers, then the aux should too

Ok thanks, I was just checking, making sure that there isnt something I should know about that I dont. Like I said in threads prior...I'm an idiot when it comes to cars. Thanks for the help though!
