Maybe a dumb question, but I know nothing about suspension components.

How can you tell the difference between a set of 4 cylinder mustang springs, and a set of V-8 springs? I have a chance of buying a set of 4 banger mustang springs over the interweb, but how do I know what I am getting? I know the 4 banger springs are suppose to be thinner in diameter, but are there any other physical difference that set them apart?

I am trying to do a cheap drag suspension build-up, heard these springs work well. Thanks

I installed 4 cylinder springs and my car lowered about .1 inches if that. The springs looked the same. However, if you push on the front fenders, the car is a lot looser. I do have alum heads and quite a bit of weight reduction.

I got brand new stock springs (I think they're heavy duty) from autozone... all 4 for like $120

Im about to throw some 4 bangers under my stang, i just took my front sway off yesterday and it launches a good bit harder. Only difference in normal driving now is when i turn really quick, it just feels like the front end tucks under a tad bit more, and NO it doesn't feel like my car is going to flip over. But then again my car has lowering springs on it to..soo. I wanna raise it back up, my car has sucky traction now that its lowered.

I went with 4 cyl springs on the front only.It dropped the front almost 1".I haven't disconnected the sway bar yet,I was kinda afaid to,hear too many horror stories about bad handeling.I'm gona try it in the spring and see how it feels. The reason I tried them was also weight reduction, the front sat way too high after a/c delete and alum heads.Didn't want lowering springs cause the roads around here suck.I bought them new at Advance Auto for 70 bucks.I'm hopeing they settle a little more or I might cut 1/4 coil off ,would like alittle more rake.Only diff I saw was wire size, dia was the same.

I label the springs to keep them identified. Not sure how to tell them apart out of the car. When new, I think they had paper tags, which would be long gone by now.

I have 4 cyl springs cut 3/4 coil in my 82 and they lowered it over an inch. More than I wanted. I am going to put an uncut set in as soon as I can get to it.

Looks like I will have to take a gamble and hope I don’t get screwed.

I don’t really care about handling as long as it is not extreme; it’s not my everyday driver. Right now it handles like ass with no front sway bar and worn out bushings.

Thanks for the replies.
