Quick pull when brakes are applied then goes away

I am trying to figure out a brake problem with my 89GT, I did some searching but could not find anyone with this exact problem. The braking system is all stock. When I hit the brakes the car pulls to left real quick then stops straight. Even just a quick tap to the brakes will jerk the wheel to the left. Happens at any speed. I am not sure where to begin on this problem, any advice?

Thanks,
Ross

Barring any alignment issues in the front end, check the front brakes for any uneven wear. Pop out the caliper slide bolts and see if they're lubed well enough, or look excessively worn. Ever flushed the brake fluid? Might also be some contaminants that have accumulated in the calipers or lines that would prevent them from immediately allowing fluid in at the same rate, but it does stabilize and braking power becomes normal.

replace your hoses and calipers. hoses flex when there old and cause uneven pressures to the calipers. check hardware and pads. best to do is replace parts. also suggest in ss lines for the front, they wont flex

Check the rear brakes....you may have one of the rear axle seals leaking fluid onto the drum or maybe a weeping leak on one of the brake cylinders. If you are leaking rear axle fluid, sometimes it clears up once you've hit the brakes enough to burn off the oil. Also, the shoes may not grab enough in reverse to self adjust since the oil isn't burned off enough when you first throw 'er into reverse.

Ask me how I know!

Good luck!
