my quick question; i pulled off my hood blanket. it was getting all wet and crappy. i also closed my vents back up with it off since i found some negative effects. such as water dripping near fuse box, stuff i dont want to worry about.

now, my hood is one of the unfinished ones. its sprayed, but not clear coated. can the heat do anything to damage this? it seems like i remember someone saying to put it back on if it wasnt finished. any info on this?

now the problem i found. i HAD a jlt rai on the car. whenever it rained/i washed it. the water would run down the seam between the hood/fender and then get onto the heat shield. which angled downward, making a nice runway for water right onto the airfilter.

i pulled it off and had a few drips of water come out of the filter. so now im back to stock :bang: can anyone recommend a good setup that is mostly concealed so something like this wont happen?

thanks

I have no hood blanket or rain flaps on my hood. Luckily it is painted, but not clear coated. I have not seen any ill effects running it this way and have not heard of anyone having a problem. When I wash my car the water that passes through the hood extractors drips down between the radiator and the belts, doesn't really get all over the fuse box. I also have had no problems with water getting anywhere near my K&N FIPK. This may be due to the fact the heat shield for the FIPK seals against the bottom of the hood creating a barrier of sorts.

A couple of drops of water in your filter will not hurt anything.

ok, im going to clean up the underside of the hood then. my blanket was just too trashed to keep on there. normally the flaps do drip in those area's, except when you pop the hood. i just noticed it yesterday and decided to close the flaps for now. ill probably re-open them in not too long.

i was looking at the k&n for awhile also. ill probably pick one of those up, especially if it seals against the hood.

thanks :nice:
