The area around the posts for the spoiler on my 98 Cobra have a lot of build up around it. I'm going to sort of give my trunk area a refresh, new springs, lift supports, weatherstrip, and hinges to replace the broken off ball studs. I have a leak back there that I believe is from the weatherstrip but the buildup around the spoiler posts has me worried as well. So I plan on removing the spoiler, giving everything a nice cleaning, and reattaching it.

Looks like there are rubber washers on the nuts that hold it on but I assume there is something that goes between the spoiler and the decklid itself. I figure I could use silicone or cut out a thin rubber gasket to sandwich between the spoiler and decklid. But I am wondering what others have done to ensure the spoiler doesn't leak past those bolts and doesn't allow water to build up between the spoiler and lid.
