Quick starting remedies!

I have a 67 Mustang coupe with a bored over 289, 600cfm 4 barrel Edelbrock carb (w/o auto choke) and Mallory electronic ignition system. My gripe is that after I get the car good and warm, it doesn't want to start very fast. I had a problem with the starter getting too hot, but after wrapping it with a heat shield that problem dissappeared. It takes a little carressing to get her going after it sits for a while, but that's okay. If I drive it a short enough distance that the water temp doesn't rise very much, the car will start very fast. Any suggestions, other than fuel injection, that will make Horseycar fire up right when the key turns, Everytime?

the carb is getting too hot and the fuel is boiling. use an insulator/carb spacer made from either wood, or phenolic plastic. there are even some that have an aluminum heat sink if oyu need to go that far.

Is this somthing that is sold, or do I have to rig it?

They sell phenolic spacers at Summit, Jegs and some parts stores. If you want wood then you would have to make. Ive been told wood works very well.
