QUICK? T-5 trany fluid. 1 QT ok?

so i know why it was getting harder for me to shift now. after filling it back up i dumped the old stuff into the quart bottles and was only able to fill one and the about 1/8 of another bottle. i noticed a small drop of fluid right where the d/s meets the tranny. slow leak? what is that the tail seal?

agreed

my dad brought me a fluid pump from my work

SO much easier to lift an empty tranny into place then fill it, than the other way around and have it spill all over ur face out the tailshaft... URGH

Take care of the leaks and refill it.

Low fluid leads to whines and burned out bearings and synchros.

well its refilled. i will take care of it shortly. it must have been a real slow leak because i had the new d/s put in with the new seal about a year ago by one of the shops i go to. im going back there with the paper work and im sure they will take care of it. my car was definetly whining, no syncro grinding yet, glad i caugth it before that started to happen.

Always make sure your trans fluid is filled to the top or your going to ruin everything inside it due to overheating and no lubrication. The previous owner ran the car with low trans for a while (not sure how long) and 3 months after i had the car the t-5 went. I was going to rebuild it and all 3 shafts were ****ed up due to no lube and overheating from low fluid.

Another way you can fill it is to take off the shifter.

Also i would suggest spending the extra money to get synthetic.
