quiet, yet mean mufflers?!?

I just installed a Flowtech offroad X pipe and an Edelbrock RPM catback about 3 weeks ago.

Its pretty quiet under 2,000 RPM. Above 2,000 RPM it screams pretty good.
On the freeway if I stay below 2,000 RPM I can't even hear the exhaust.
But if I go over 70 mph the RPM's go over 2,000 and the drone is there.

The offroad X pipe definitely makes it sound different at WOT.
Its hard to describe.

If I had left the cats on the car I would have gone with Flowmaster 3 chambers. I really like the flowmaster Tiny sound.
But without the cats I think it would have just been to loud.(Ticket Magnet).

I also Like the stainless mufflers and tips the Edelbrock system has.

As far as installation it all went on real easy.

Thanks :nice:

Needs work.....

My exhaust is in my sig...and i have been through like four setups already and i like the way it sounds right now but it is LOUD. I think this summer i will be going with side exit tails, because i like the low RPM sound of tail pipes and the wide open sream of dumps. If you go with cats and go with three chambers or magnaflows with tailpipes it will still sound nice but be quite. If your looking for something just a bit louder than stock with good tone....then just change out the muffs and tails and you're there. In my opinion when you get into changing the headers and h-pipe is when its gets too loud for some people. To me it seems like the cats are what causes the "drone" and without em it sounds much nicer, just louder! good luck with it though

"I have the Hooker Aerochamber mufflers and they are pretty quiet, but can get kinda loud when you really open it up. "

Any chance you have a sound clip or can get one of these?

Michael Yount I just recently installed a summit catback along with my 1 5/8" shorties and OR H pipe, they sound nice but are by far the queitest setup I have owned! Very very close to stock but with a bit more performance sound. There are others that sound better but at this point in my life I'm tired of people telling me to slow down when I go past them at 25mph and having neighbors comment at their sound. Plus there only $15 a piece, you might want to give them a try.
