R.E.I. WHEELS?

I bought an 89 gt with 5 lug swap and the wheels are casted with R.E.I. in the back of the spoke. I wanted to buy another one so I went searching the web and turned up nothing. Can anyone help identify these wheels?

That's an old Ronal wheel. They used those on Saleen's before switching to a very similar American Racing wheel in the late 80's. It's going to be a bear to find another. On the plus side, you could probably sell the three you have for enough to buy a set of four of whatever else you might want.

They come up from time to time on ebay, but you are more likely to find the American racing version. Now i'm not sure how exact they are to the ARE's but i did have 6 of the ARE versions at one time and they look pretty close.

Keep this in mind, those wheels will NOT clear pbr front cobra calipers on sn95 spindles, i know this for a fact because i tried it (just as an experiment), that's why i sold mine off since they would never fit on the car again. Calipers hit the spokes of the front wheels.

Also note that there is a handful of rears, at least 3 different offsets and widths, yet another thing i know because i had a few different oddballs. Not all fit equally, so verify the sizes on the ones you have.

I'd wythors estimate is for mint condition, paint and polishing with all centers.

I've watched quite a few go off and IMO if you decide to sell them, you should expect more like $400 unless they really are close to perfect.

There are no such thing as "genuine Saleen" wheels on the early Fox cars. Steve used what he could get his hands on. The early 5-spoke wheels were off-the-shelf Ronals. When they became hard to source, he switched over to the very similar American Racing style. Both used black plastic center caps with Saleen decals, both of which are still available.

they have no scratches and the polish cleans up real nice. like i said just missing 2 center caps. does anybody have a link to where i can get my hands on the center caps?

fast ed - the car is a 5 lug swap with rear drums. and yes the wheels have all the same offset.
