Met up with this guy I've been talking to. He has a 2004 Automatic GT with a t/b, mass air, x-pipe, ported intake plenum, k&n, and a chip... thinks he has 3.27's, 3.55's were an option in the 04's. I have what's in my signature.

First race: From a 40 mph roll, was in 2nd about 4,000 rpm's.. he honked it off and towards the end of 4th gear he was about 2 cars in front of me (there was 1 car space between my front bumper and his rear bumper).

Second race: Don't remember what mph but I was in 1st gear at about 3800 rpm's, by the end of 4th it was the same as above.

He said we would be dead even if he didn't have his chip. Everytime I shifted he would pull on me a little bit more. He definitely didn't walk me like I was told he would. So all in all I am glad I wasn't beaten badly or anything. I raced a stock 2004 gt with an x pipe (auto) and beat him by 2 cars. The guy I raced today manually shifts his car the first 2 gears also. I want to race him when I get my intake on again and see how much better I do. He is getting 3.73's installed next week though so I don't think I will have the intake on in time. I guess I am just posting this to let some of you near stock stangs on here know that the new gt's dont beat us that bad! Haha.

Try racing him from a dead stop instead of a roll. 5.0s usually shine with the low end torque that they produce. Not that the outcome would be different just that I rather some one else let me know what my chances are against one

ya, we couldn't get a dig run in because there was some traffic behind us and the roads stretch for awhile with no lights, it woulda been closer in the lower gears, but probably close to the same outcome, i just run out of horsepower ... which is why i need to mod some more ;]

yep, they think.. oh 302, 5.0 liter, 215 hp, i can own that, then i race them and beat em (or come close) lol, like half an hour ago i raced another kid with a 91 firebird formula, supposedly 2nd fastest in my school (first is an evo), they both graduated now, i ran him from a 1st gear roll, 3500 rpm's, he honked it off and we gunned it, i was ahead by half a car till 4th, and he shut it down, so i guess i got him, it was close tho, then we race from the light because his car supposedly rapes off the line, light turns green, i launch good, by the end of first we were even, he was ahead a little in the beginning, but then i shifted to 2nd and i hit the rev limiter, i miss-shifted and f'd my 2nd gear up and he pulled, then he said he had to go... meanwhile my friend in his thunderbird attemped to keep up both times :X

Nice races...that sounds about right...

That chip probably didn't help him at all...

Are you sure the 04's have an option of 355's...I know the Mach 1 does but I'm pretty sure it isn't available for the Gt model...

Yeah I knew a guy that ran a 13.7 with just welded in flowmasters in a 00 Gt auto ...don't see to many of those...

I know when I had my 00 GT 5spd...I could take a stock geared 5.0 off the line easily...but just barely...with gears...just got to slip the clutch just right
