alright well i finally got a chance to race him. Near my house there is an air field that we raced at. We got permission from the owner and all cause he isnt using it. We actually got permission over the summer too to do some auto crossing out there as well. Its pretty nice knowing we can actually do roll races and not worry about traffic or the 5oh.

Alright we raced from id say a 10mph roll. I started in 1st gear pulled up next to him honked 3 times and nailed it we stayed side by side. He claims he hit the rev limiter in 1st and then i pulled a couple feet shifting into second and spun very bad and he just gave a nice chirp, he pulled back again and stayed even with me then i hit 3rd and stayed right with him and then he slowly walked after that and we shut down around 100. He got me by bout a car. Those things are so heavy in teh rear end its not even funny he couldnt even spin 1st just nailing it i didnt stop spinning till halfway through 2nd and then a nice chirp into 3rd. If i had more traction i think it would have been a bit more different.

Those 3vs have more of a top end pull there low end isnt really that great cause of there weight. but my gears sure as heck helped.

oh and id like to add something else. It only took me close to 2gs to sort of keep up with a stock 07 GT not bad right? not it sux cause he already has money in the bank for exhaust, tuner, CAI, and a throttle body. So im pretty much done for by spring time. he gives me crap for it all the time. I almost start getting pissed every time i get near my car now cause its so slow but it feels quicker than his which is the crap thing. Its probably cause my exhaust is so loud lol.s

true that man. it stinks though when ur in constant competition with your lil bro and then he gets something faster than ur modded vehicle lol. Kinda makes me wish i did get that yellow vert cobra instead of the GT but o well cant win em all. Its too late for me too sell my car though for a cobra i like it too much its come a long way i remember when i was in constant 9.4s at the track and then eventually dropped her in the 8s on full weight and stock tires.

i was surprised at how well i stayed with him though cause i spun so much and was right with him and him not spinning at all except for a small chirp into 2nd.

The new GT's are no joke. They hold there own pretty well against me and my car is cam'd. Last time a ran against a new GT from a roll, I only got him by 2-3 lengths. From a stop I usually beat them a little worse though.

they start out at 300hp and you start out at 260. you have a few boltons and he is a bit heavier, so thats why it mostly equaled out.

just remember, your car looks better.

hahaha i tease him about that every time lol. My dad even says mine looks more muscular than his. But i was surprised i thought that it would have been ownage. I stayed right with him spinning my tires. But just riding in his car it feels like it doesnt really pick up hard till around 3grand and then pulls hard and doesnt stop till red line. those 3vs breathe much better up top than our 2v's.

My dad just told me to put some new heads and cams in and change it up a bit lol. That was my plans anyways to go with vt stage 2s and mph 2.5 heads. Or go the blower route either way i want a mid 12 sec car.

I think that his lack of experience in his new car versus your 3.73s had the biggest effect on the outcome of this race. I've raced a few myself. Destroyed one, and got destroyed by another. They are no joke. Even the v6s have a bit of jump on them. I thought it would be funny to sandbag on one once, to mess with the guy. He got on it, and shot off faster than I would have ever imagined one of those 6's could.

yea his shifts are a bit slow. But i have driven it also and still it lacks low end cause of its weight. But once she is in the high rpms it screams. Its a nice car though the inside is really nice. The head rests actually work lol you dont have to almost break your neck to put your head back.

I traded my 02 in on my 05, so as an ower of both, I can offer a little bit of insight here.

The 05 isn't that much heavier than the 02 was. This biggest difference is the weight distribution. The 02 is very front heavy compared to the 05. Thats why it is much easier to loose traction. Remember the 05 has an aluminum block which reduces reduces much of the weight over the front wheels. Stepping the back end out on the 02 was no problem, and sometimes would happen when you least expect it. I've yet to have my 05 surprise me like that.

All that said, the 05 I find harder to launch because is easier bog the engine with the extra traction. That has caught me out more than a few times, and leaving me with a quite feeling of embarrassment. (Ever loose to a chevy truck? Not fun.)Get it right though, and most stock and mildly modified 02-04s are are seeing tail lights. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule.

I don't want to sound like I am dissing anyone's ride. Quite the opposite, in fact. I still have a great memories of my 02, and if I could have afforded to have both, I defently would have kept it, and made it into a kick ass project car. Rather, I am just providing my first person observations of someone who has extensively driven both.

How would you know if it didn't have a whole lot of low end......you didn't race him from a dead stop to find out.

Nice runs. I always wondered how my 4v would stack up against a newer 3v, I think the fact that my car is so loud scares most people away even though it's not even that fast compared to seemingly everything else on the road these days.

cause from a stop i would have owned him lol. He has zero drag racing experience. And it would have made the 07s look like a joke if we did that. he cant launch worth crap one night i was with him he let a stock mr2 spider jump him by a few cars off the line and then passed him lol.

ive almost lost to a ford f350 at the strip though lol. his 60' was a 1.9 to my 2.06 lol so i spent all my time trying to come back and only won by about .04 in the 1/8th but i trapped 6mph higher.

i always think there is something wrong with my car though cause it makes this weird rattle sound that i think might be an exhaust leak again. all these sounds happened once i installed the x pipe and it just wont go away now. its not really loud but can be heard with teh radio off and me stepping on the pedal in pretty much any gear at part throttle and wide open. I pray every night its not detonation. Cause if it is my motor is already screwed ive put around 10k on it since it started doing this and maybe 30 passes at the track. im pretty sure it would have blown up by then.

That would be a dream to race at an airport on the strip. Minus the planes of course.

That doesn't mean that the car doesn't have any low end. It only proves that your brother can't drive worth a ****.

On the contrary to your statement....the 3V's 4.6's have plenty of low end. More so than any stock 2V 4.6L does.

oh dont get me wrong its way more than a stock 4.6 but when i get in his car and drive it and nail it from a 2nd gear roll at around 30 it doesnt pick up as hard as mine does. I know my gearing makes a huge difference. it also seems slower to me atleast cause it cant spin at all in 1st unless teh clutch is dropped. obviously it has low end though if he stayed right next to me from a roll on at 10 mph. they pick up hard at 3grand and then pull all the way till redline which is what i like about them. My 2v dies at about 5k.

hahahaha yea good thing its not used any more cause it would be pretty bad if a plane was coming in for a landing and we are running our cars on it.
