radar detectors

You can buy radar detector/laser jammers as a set, but not an all-in-one unit...yet. Check out both of these sites, tons and tons of good info.

IMO it's really not worth buying one unless you get a good one. My first one was the cheapest Cobra they make ($60) and it was a royal piece of crap and would never shut up. Then I bought the best one Cobra makes ($185) and it was still a piece of crap. See when you get a cheap one they have so many false alarms and go off all the time, and one of two things will happen: either you will get the crap annoyed out of you and just turn it off, like I did, or you will just get used to it and not pay any attention to it even when it's not a false alarm.

So I bought Valentine 1 ($400) and it was one of the best investments I have ever made!! It has saved me so many times!! Valentines are no longer the best on the market, even though they are about the most expensive. Beltronics now makes the best one and I think it is $350.

I have an Escort Passport 8500 and I totally recommend it. Its by far the best radar dectector I have ever owned. It gives me plenty of warning and almost never falses. Ot has saved my ass countless times. Only times cops got me it was off and even then they had to point at it like they beat it. Well one actually I got put he pulled me over for a blown license plate light. Joked that I must have wished I had it on (I was playing with it trying to get there freq # on the K band) I told him I did. Thats why I was doing 45 in the 50 :)

Look it up. Its one of the most recommended models next to the valentines. I don't care about laser since they don't use it in NH and dectectors are useless against them anyway. Mine have always falsed, rain drops and on comming headlights seems to do it alot.

EXACTLY! The valentine, the beltronic RX65 and the excort 8500 x50 are usually touted as the top performers and they each cost more than $300. I think the escort is the cheapest I got mine for $245 on ebay. Its the red LED but I don't care. Radar dectors are not illegal in NH so I don't care if the guy behind me can see it or not.

It took me a while to realize that when it went off I should start slowing down, I had gotten use to my uniden that cried wolf.

i had a buddie buy one... got a ticket the same day.. the cop saw the decetor and says " you have that and still got a speeding ticket" he slaps its off his dashboard and say yeah peice of SHH i just bought it today... the cop say" lemme see that" hits the switch off of highway.. and tells him he could of given him a ticket for even having that!

Most cops don't even turn on the radar until right before they clock you, by the time you know they're there, its too late. Radar detectors are a waste of money IMO.

unless there is a trap set up and they are clocking someone up the road and you just happen to be coming up to it and yours goes off...

Not around here. Most leave there units on and aimed high. I sometimes get 30 sec of warning. Sure it won't protect you against instant on but I usually see the cop before he hits me and I crank it down at the sight of a cop anyway.

Radar dectors are much better for rural areas where cops leave the units on while driving or sit and wait. In suburbs and cities cops usually prowl about and then use the more selective instant on to nail people they suspect are speeding.

Cops are just lazy up here I guess. Only ones that do that are staties. And like I said I've seen them first and have already put the clutch in and started braking.

Most locals are using K band units and leave them on all the time. Even when they are parked at the station. If a cop nails me its cause the unit is off cause I'm charging the phone.

Its the Dual system with laser diffuser.

You can make these so invisible that cops cant even find them. The radars can shoot through plastic (a Bumper) and the diffuser warns and blocks for up to 8 seconds. The company is right down the street from me its pretty pimp chit.
They are very costly 800+ you can sometimes find them used on ebay (like me 300$). I have one in my stang, my dads got them in all of his cars. Its the top of the line and you dont have some cheezy thing hanging off your window.
