Radiator and fan help needed

OK I bought a AFCO Rad, 2 core 27 1/2 inch, Its pretty wide and I really cant fit my shroud back in there because it dosent fit flush agaist the radiator and its hitting the A/C compressor, first do i really need the shroud and secondly I bought a flex fan off some guy for like 5 bucks months ago, the question I have is the only way it looks like it will work is if it blows on the radiator instead of pulling air away from it, I'm guessing this is wrong?? Thanks

Sounds like you've got the wrong radiator and wrong electric fan for the application Andy. You can make anything work with time and/or $, but I suspect you'll be better off in the long run if you get the right parts to fit the car.

The shroud makes a big difference with the stock mechanical fan. If you're gonna run the mech. fan, you should definitely have the proper shroud in place. As for the electric, pullers (mount on the backside of the radiator) are more efficient than pushers (mount on the front of the radiator). I'd be VERY suspect of a $5 fan's ability to move enough air to keep your car cool. Assuming this is a V-8 Mustang (no sig - what car, engine, year, mods?) you really need at least 2000-2500 cfm without a/c, and 2500-3000 cfm with a/c to assure keeping the car cool in those NY summertime traffic jams. If you don't have data on the fan, I wouldn't put my motor at risk with it. Can't help you with the hose sizes/part numbers.

Michael is right - id at least check your part number vs what it is supposed to be (from the site you bought it from, if applicable). would not be the first time the wrong part was sent.
i cant imagine how the fan shroud would not fit. it is really important, as Guru said.

good luck and bump for ya.

PS, might try searching for "afco radiator" in here - when you find someone post about it, PM them for pics, ideas, etc. just an idea.

i have a afco rad just like yours works great got to rember its not a direct replacment so some fit isues will be thier i had vern house (pa performance)make me a upper suport i used a focus eltric twin fan and i took my old hose to advanced and looked through everything they had till i found a hose that was close you i then bought a inline pet **** from summit made by mr gasket. that one side is smaller that the other then ran one hose to one side and one to the other.
