I got a new Fluidyne radiator, but I am not sure what lb pressure cap to get. They have 16 lb, 19~21 lb and a 24 lb...I have no experience with cap and lb pressure, so any advise would be great for my application

get the low pressure one. It's easier on the system and will be less prone to inducing leaks.

The purpouse of the higher pressure is to increase the boiling point so unless you're having issues there isn't any benefit.

C-moneeeyyyyyy.... wazzz-up?

If I remember right, I think it's like 3 degrees of boiling resistance for every lb of pressure.

If youre worried at all, you might check into some of the new synthetic coolants that summit has (or jegs, or b.o.p or whoever) they dont use any water, so the boilover protection is quite a bit higher, and they're ok with alluminum.

16 psi

I am also putting in a Fluidyne radiator in between rain shower, might never get done if the sun don't come out . I am using the 16 psi cap,I was told anything higher will kill a head gasket.

Tks DD, 3 degrees for every lb sounds about right after looking at the figures. I purchased the 16 lb cap yesterday.

Time only, Good luck:D

I am pretty sure I just put my stock radiator cap on my Fluidyne and have been runnin it for quite some time now without problems... What is the need for a new cap?

Justin, I did not know what the lb reading of the stock cap is/was, and with the overheating issue I just endured, I am much more comfortable in starting with a foundation of things I know vs not knowing:nice:

So you got a new radiator because you were over heating? Does this also mean there is nothing wrong with the other one you have F/S? I ment do you still have the injector's? peace
