Back window is separating from vinyl, can I avoid a full top replacement or can you guys recommend a strong glue for that? Also it doesn't go down but I can hear the motors groaning in the back is there a usual reason for this? 86 GT
As for top not going down, check for low fluid in the pump. If it's low there must be a leak so find that and fix it too. Checking fluid level should be done with the top in the down position. If the top wont go down normally, you can do it manually. Just unlatch it. Then with a person on each side, slowly lift the top up and fold it down. Slowly as you will be pushing fluid out of the lift cylinders and back into the pump.
Look for lmr in the vendors forums, I thing they have them, sometimes you can replace just the back window and the related material, most times the top is too old though, it's been a minute since I've fooled with a vert, I do have a cobra intake that has a vert connected to it but I'll be replacing the whole thing.
The latches are on each side of the header, move the visors, don't force the top, you can bump the top switch to help relieve any pressure just don't run it continuously, bump it.
Ok, your telling us that you didn't unhook the top we you tried to put it down? well, I guess if you've never had one and there was no owner manual, I would get a good repair manual to help you along, I got mine from motorbooks I think, it was a long time ago.
fixing that rear window motor is an adventure into disassembly land, back seat and quarter trim. Can you hear the motor wine or is it silent?
