I don't know how familiar everyone is with the Chevy products, but (just wait, hear me out!). The Camaro SS and FireHawk used a cool ram air setup. It was a hole cut in the hood that directed air into a special filter that sat on top of the intake. I was wondering if anyone made a kit similar to that for the 01 and up GT with the fake hood scoop. I like the look of the scoop but can't stand the fact that it is fake. I also don't like the look of the Mach shaker system. Any one have any ideas about this? Thanks!

i believe www.karkraft.com used to or may still have a kit that you use your stock hood scoop to make a ram air kit.

March Performance makes one, but I don't think it utilizes the hood scoop in any way. I maybe wrong though. Here is the link.

If you wanted to replace your hood, you could get this one.

It looks nice and is one of the few functional hoods I've seen.

turbo or supercharger is your best bet for ramming in air.

Monkie NAILED IT!

Ram air is an old concept. Hey, the original Mach 1's had it. Does it work? Somewhat, but really only at high speeds. You got to really get moving, to get the air going in.

You can buy the Mach 1 shaker hood ram setup for about $750.

And you can get alot more power than it will give you if you spend your $750 somewhere else.

Also "Ram Air" worked alot better back in the day because it was going straight into the carb. Now you have it going in the shaker, 90 degree bend, in the filter, another 90 degree bend, and another 90 degree bend into the engine. I think the shaker hood is more "I got a real shaker hood" rather than "I got alot of power out of this hood". Now the Firehawk and TransAm "Ram Air" is alot better. Its going straight into the engine with no bends. The more direct the shot is the more power you will get.
