ramcharger fan question

hey everyone ! . i had a quick question regarding the dual 12' ramcharger fan assembly. does it have a built in adjustable thermostat for operation? if so how do i interface a fan like that with an outside controller like a DC CONTROLLER. are there provisions to bybass the built in unit and run my DC. i want to run a mark Viii setup with dc controller but space with my novi 2000 is a big concern. any info or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. just an FYI, i am running a 347 with the novi 2000 and my cooling system already consists of a fluidyne radiator, edelbrock high flow water pump, and stock fan/clutch assembly ... its time to clean things up a bit. oh, already did the 3g upgrage with a PA performance 200 amp beast

Baskin at DCControl can tell you how to wire up the Delta Current controller with that fan. If you have his controller (only way to go - love mine), you can email him at [email protected].

thanks again mike... i already talked to him a month or so ago... hes a really great guys and would recommend him to anyone. i already ordered the controller and was waiting on picking out a fan until i did my 200 amp alt upgrade. now that that is dont i am just concerned about space with a mark viii fan (i hear its a fatty) , and i hear the ramchargers are some of the thinnest out there... the spal units are just a tad smaller than a trimmed mark vii i hear. i'll shoot him and email and am sure he has a solution. thanks again!

i dont have either, but ill toss out two cents. i thought the SPALs were supposed to be thin? Michael will know - he runs them.
the nice thing is that since they (Spals) are (what i have seen) two fans, there is not the issue of one central fan motor hitting the water pump (Mark 8 can require being offset a bit). you are right, the Mk 8 is a big fan.

boss302 - take your measurements real carefully. Depth isn't the only issue. The MarkVIII is a single fan. Consequently, there's only so far you can move it from side to side on the radiator -- that makes it difficult to avoid the water pump pulley with the back of the fan motor without relocating the radiator forward a bit. The smaller dual fans have two motors that stick out - but they're not in the center of the radiator. On mine, they stick into the spaces on either side of the water pump. Getting them in and out is a bit tricky (on mine, I pull out the whole radiator with fans already installed) but they fit. I can't move my radiator forward without major surgery, so I can't use a large single fan; however two smaller fans work because they don't sit in the center of the radiator - i.e. - I don't have to worry about interference with the water pump. pm me with your email address if you'd like to see a picture.
