Ranger 2.3 5 speed input shaft Q

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 95 3.8 T5 that has less than 200 miles on a complete rebuild. I understand that a new input shaft is required to fit my 89 5.0. Either a 5.0 or a 2.3 shaft will work with the exception of a throw out bearing for the 4cyl unit. Does anyone know if an input shaft from a 2.3 Ranger is the same as a Mustang shaft?

depending on if it is a T5 in the ranger. I dont think you can swap the 4cyl and the V8 stuff around.
I would sell the SN95 T5 and buy a Fox T5. When I had my 95 GT vert I needed a T5 for it and could not find one to save my life.... Might be able to trade for a good T5 and some boot too....

I researched the compatablity of the 95 3.8 t5 and the gearing is nearly identical to the 85 - 89 5.0 t5's. The difference being the length of the input shaft. I got the transmission for free so I'm gonna keep it. I searched a couple of Ranger mod sites and it appears that the stock 5 speed is completely different than that of a Mustang. I'm going to either buy a 5.0 or 2.3 shaft. Thanks
