Ranger radiator mounting & application

What application Ranger radiator are you guys running the Volvo IC using. I mean like what year ranger did it come from and what engine. I have one that looks like it will fit nicely with the volvo IC but the hose fittings are on the opposite sides as the stock mustang radiator. Doesnt look to be a problem though as there isnt anything in the way to keep my from rerouting the hoses to opposite sides. I am a little concerned about the size of the core though. It is a bit thinner than the mustang radiator which doesnt seem to be a step in the right direction when going to a turbo so thats why Im wondering what you guys have used. I have an idea of how I want to build my mounting brackets but I would really like to see some pictures of how you have yours mounted so I might come up with something better.

i used an 85 ranger radiator and a volvo intercooler. I used Threaded Rods on the top and put them through existing holes in the support, and on the bottom i used a couple nylon ties and its nice and solid. Not as fancy as making custom brackets or anything, but it works. I too think the radiator looks a little thin, but we shall see, My IC tubing isnt finished yet so i havent driven it much to see if its gonna have enough cooling. Heres a pic i took to show some IC piping, but you can see the radiator too. I plan on trimming the threaded rods and making an aluminum shroud for the top so you wont see any of its mounts.

Looks like yours has the hoses on the wrong sides just like mine does. What application did you for the hoses or did you just make the mustang ones fit?

My plan for mounting is to build brackets that basically hold the IC and radiator together and then drop it in as an assebly. My radiator has these 2 plastic tabs on the top that line up perfect with a couple of holes in the lip of the sheetmetal kind of like yours. I figue I can use a couple of long bolts and tube spacers to mount it pretty clean at the top.

I had just bought new hoses so i didnt wanna buy any new ones, I just cut sections out to fit. Its not perfect, but it works. I have the radiator and IC Zip tied together on the top and bottom, and installed it as one piece as well. There are many ways to make brackets and stuff for it. I chose to cut the ears off the radiator so they would mate closer together, but making brackets to use the ears would be rather simple. I just wanted to go simple so i used the threaded rods and so far they have worked well.

I got an Explorer radiator from a local shop (new) and it's about 2.25" thick. Fits perfectly into my big NPR, at least in mockups. I'd not thought of using threaded rod, I like the idea.
