Rant & Heads Up: Hillbank Motorsports

Normally I'm not compelled to post something like this, but after the utter lack of customer service at this place I've decided to share.

Friday afternoon I spoke with a lady in the parts department and asked her if they had a part number in stock. Indeed they did, so I asked the woman if I could goto the shop in Irvine and pickup the part on Saturday. She said that it wouldn't be a problem and to show up between 10 and 2.

Saturday morning, I hop in the ride and drive an hour to Hillbank Motorsports and arrive around 10:30. The shop was open, but it was dead and there was nobody to be found. Finally, after 20 minutes a woman shows up. She tells me that 'the guys' were out and to leave my name and number and she would have them call me as soon as they returned so they could 'fetch' the part I wanted. I then decided to goto the Irvine mall and wait for the phone call as promised. After walking around the mall for two+ hours, I decided to give them another call around only to find out that no one was answering. I decided to drive back by to see what was going on, and the shop was already closed, thus a wasted Saturday.

I called there this morning to be put on hold twice for a total of 12 minutes, only to have some rude character answer the phone and say that they don't carry that part number in stock. It didn't even sound like he checked it in the computer.

All in all a pretty ****ed up experience. I've had a few recommendations for this place, but I won't be shopping there ever.

Cheers,
J.

That sucks! I've bought from Hillbank a number of times, and have only ever had good service. You must've caught them on a bad day.

Their place does have more of a 'web warehouse' look and feel (there's no "store" as such - you walk in and you're in their front office), and maybe that's their preferred method of doing biz. I've spoken to Chris there a few times, and no, it doesn't sound like he's looking anything up - he just seems to know what he has in stock.

Sorry to hear you chewed up a Saturday for nothing - been there, done that (then had the vendor yell at me when I bought parts elsewhere, after he'd ordered them and then no-showed when I drove out to his place to buy them from him!!!).
