Why aren't cane/gin trucks not subject to the same laws? I always wondered how the Natchitoches Gin truck could pass inspection, but who knows. . . .?

They're run "intrastate" ( meaning they never leave the state) and as such, aren't subject to the "interstate" truck rules. Technically classified and licensed as "farm trucks". Only requirement for a driver is to have a "chaufers" ( SIC ?) license in La. and be 18 years of age. The only test involved in getting a Chaufers license is a 20 question written test. And don't ask why it's called a chaufers license , I haven't a clue. or even know why it's called that if it's for driving a truck. Only in Louisiana!!!!!!!!!

well, lemme say this Wal-Mart truck drivers are the best. Ive yet to see one driving stupid. they usually are doing the speedlimit, drive with lights on, use blinkers, get over/slow down when you get on etc.
