rattle/ticking noise HELP PLZ

Okay I posted about a month and half ago that i had a ticking noise coming from the engine, but i didnt get very many response. Well I took the car to the shop and they said that they wouldnt be able to say what the problem is untill they started tearing down the engine, but the did rule out a spun rod bearing. Here are the symptoms: runs fine while cold, but once it worms up the idle surges when stopped, loud rattle/chattering sound @2K+ rpms under exceleration. I tried to listen to see if the sound was coming from a head but it sounds to me like its coming from inside the engine. Plz help, all opinions are welcome..

i forgot to mention that the sound gets faster with the rpms

does it sound like it is maybee coming from the back of the block. if you have the know how or the tools pull the tranny and check the flywheel make sure it is tight... i had that problem before it somehow loosed up and i thought it was the motor and when we started to pull it all apart starting with the tranny we found that. we then zipped it up and the sound was gone and the car has been fine since.... hopefully this helps...
