I've always wanted to do this, but never got around to it because I havent seen many red cars with the interrior painted red but after seeing how RC's came out I decided to give it a shot. Took out the A/C and shifter bezels but I have only painted the A/C bezel so far because the masking tape wouldnt stick to the shifter bezel. Used some left over 500 degree primer, let that dry, then got the old air brush and some left over paint from when I painted my car and sprayed away :) I'm happy with how it turned out. Not sure if I want to clear it or just leave it... I'll have to wait to see what it looks like once its dried more. Anyways... Heres a picture of it right after I sprayed it with the red. Let me know what you think. The shifter bezel, door pods, gauge bezel, and clock pod will probably all be painted next.

It looks better in person... The flash messed with the color

is your interior already red or am i thinkin of someone else? don't go overboard on the red if it is, you don't want to get overwhelmed.

Now that bright shade of red would definitely look KILLER with the white guage face and ac face...

dammit, i've got too much goin on as it is and now you've all got me thinkin about a silver interior

I cleaned the bezel off with a wet rag and let it sit for a few hours cause I didnt feel liks painting it yet, then just sprayed the primer on, let that dry, then sprayed the red on

Don.. Yes my interrior is almost all red but I'm going to get some of the stuff and make it black to balance out the parts that I painted red. I think black seats, paint the mustang on the pass side airbag black would make it look nice.

RC, HELP! How did you get the tape to stick to the shifter bezel? I tried masking and electrical tape but it wont work :( I might just hold a sheet of computer paper in the groove while I spray the paint.

Get some mineral spirits to clean it off real good and it will squeak. Masking tape in the color of blue works well. :nice:

the tape wasnt sticking that well so I just taped around the ring... when I put it on the car I'll pull it up and wipe the over spray off with some laquer thinner or mineral spirits.

Got the two things primed, painted, and put back on my car today. I think it looks good in the picture so let me know what you think. Also... How do I remove the clear plastic piece that covers the gauge cluster so I can paint the black plastic that divides all of the gauges up. Heres the pic of the center console now that its painted

J.K.
I just got back from dinner..How the h3ll did you paint that and put it back in so quick?
I let mine dry a full day before the clear coat, then again another day before the install. The good thing about clear coat is more scratch protection.

About the shift bezel..I put elec tape first...after the primer it lifted :bang:
So I yanked it all of and I just went back to the blue painter's tape....I pressed REALLY hard. Naturally, since the primer was already on, I had to make the strip a little wider and reprime it, since I didnt want the tape to touch the primed area. Since your interior is red, the shift bezel in ALL red actually does not look too bad. I think it would be too much on mine.
Im gonna do the door cups and the little square frame around the outer 2 A/C vents.

I still cant believe you did that so fast...getting ready for Towers?

I couldnt drive around for days without the radio :D I let it dry for a few hours then carefully put it back in thats how it got done so fast. I might paint the door cups tonight too and let them dry overnight. Other than thoes, I want to paint the gauge cluster thing and maybe the outer portion of the clock pod.
