I am asking this for a friend who does not have internet.

But he has a set of Ponies that he either wants to re-satin or powder coat them white. Is this something that can be done at home? Is there a good process for doing this? Any paint recommendations?....

I though it would look cool if the lip was chrome or polished but not sure if that is possible either.

No personal experience with powder coating, but it will provide the most durable finish. Paint will soon look cheap.

For supplies and how to's check out Eastwood

Good Luck

Ford dealers sell the Metallic Argent in a can for the ponies. Then they will need a clearcoat too. If done properly they will look fine. Powder coating would be much more durable and have a better finish (imo) but it can be costly.

white base coat clear coat - will do the trick!!! I painted my wheels, and my dad painted his wheels, no poblems - they turn out very nice - he should take them to a paint shop, shouldn't cost any more than 150 to 200 - that's what i'd do them for

From the factory they are powdercoated and then powder clearcoated. If he does anything to them, he MUST remove the powder clearcoating at the least.

You gotta know him or know the type person. Even if he dont know how to do it or shouldn't. He does it anyway. Often with ill-fated results.....
