You want to tap the wires that carry the lower-level signals from the radio to the amplifier. For a rear subwoofer amp, the wire colors are Gray-black stripe, Light blue-red stripe, and Light green-black stripe. One of the three is common to both left and right channels. Unfortunately, the Ford factory wiring manual does not disclose which of the three wires are right signal, left signal, and common return, so you will have to experiment with a set of cheap computer earphones (they cost about $2) to get the proper connections for your line converters. The signals should be strong enough to drive earphones if you turn up the volume a bit and adjust the fader to power the rear only.
