I've got an 03 Cobra Convertible that I believe is wired just like the GT, with a stock Mach 460 system. The Mustangworld article on installing a sub is not updated with regards to the wiring colors of the datacable your supposed to splice into. Has anyone done a sub+amp install using a line out converter on the stock mach 460 recently? I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me find the right wires to splice as I have no idea at this point..

thanks

apparently i'm told the wires can be found underneath the bottom seat cushion. is this true? and are wires still the same color (i.e. black/green, black/white)?

thanks

The MW article suggests you tap the wires between the rear-mounted amplifier and the rear speakers. This is not the way to go for clean sound. You want to tap the wires that carry the lower-level signals from the radio to the amplifier. For a rear subwoofer amp, the wire colors are Gray-black stripe, Light blue-red stripe, and Light green-black stripe. One of the three is common to both left and right channels. Unfortunately, the Ford factory wiring manual does not disclose which of the three wires are right signal, left signal, and common return, so you will have to experiment with a set of cheap computer earphones (they cost about $2) to get the proper connections for your line converters. The signals should be strong enough to drive earphones if you turn up the volume a bit and adjust the fader to power the rear only.
