This is likely it. I replaced the wires (w/ heat socks) and this one was well roasted by the headders, all the way crispy. I put in some autolites today, glad to get the feedback. When I got the car it was running pig rich, stunk to high heaven. Put on a edelbrock intake a 75mm TB and a properly sized intake tube and it seemed to run a lot better. Had some old 19lb 4 holes that I replaced the injectors and it cleaned up much better. So its a good chance that these plugs saw both richer and leaner conditions. I have no idea how long they were in there. My crank case tube does seem to pull a fair bit of oil into the TB. Had been thinking of using the breather vent style rather than the suction style for that reason. It means that cylinder is not happy, light fouling like that could be the beginning of ring seal, valve seal/guide wear.
Or it could be as simple as a bad plug wire.
Explain this.My crank case tube does seem to pull a fair bit of oil into the TB.
wow this is really a rabbit hole I did not know about.Do not run a breather/vent style anything on these cars when injected. That will allow unmetered air into the system and will cause more issues than it solves.
Do a quick google search and you will find lots of info on it.
yup that is it. can I run a filter or something on that hose? There is a baffle in the filler neck that keeps splash from the rockers making its way into the line to the TB. When there is oil vapor in the valve cover area (blow by) that gets carried up to the TB and if heavy enough it will collect in the intake. If there is no baffle the the splashed up oil will get sucked up to the TB and it pools up quicker.
Catch cans are always great as you can also monitor blow by amounts very easily while getting less into your engine .Yes but I would think a catch can would make more sense if you are seeing lots of oil in the intake.
